A few cookies keep you signed in and are not optional. The rest are analytics and advertising, and you can switch all of them off without losing anything. There is no consent banner yet, so this page explains exactly how.
1. What this covers
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This page also covers the things that behave like cookies without technically being one: local storage, pixels, and tracking scripts. We treat them the same, because from your side they do the same job.
They fall into two groups here. One group makes the site work at all. The other tells us how the site is used and whether our advertising is worth the money. Only the first group is necessary.
2. The ones we cannot switch off
These are set by us and are needed for basic functions. Blocking them will break signing in.

3. The optional ones
These are set by other companies when you load the site. Each one links to its own policy.

Microsoft Clarity deserves a specific mention, because it goes further than counting page views. It records a playback of how a page was used: where the pointer moved, what was clicked, and how far the page was scrolled. It is meant to mask what you type into form fields, and we do not use it to read your messages, but you should know it is running rather than find out later.
4. Why there is no cookie banner yet
We would rather say this plainly than let you assume otherwise. The analytics and advertising scripts above currently load when you open the site, without asking first. There is no consent banner on Convention Crasher at the moment.
That is fine in the United States. It is not sufficient under UK and European rules, which require consent before non-essential cookies are set. A consent control is planned, and until it ships the opt-outs in the next section are the real ones, so they are listed in full rather than hidden behind a link.
5. How to turn them off today
Everything at once
Any modern browser can block third-party cookies and trackers, and that switches off every optional item on this page in one move. Firefox and Safari do much of it by default. Look for Privacy or Tracking Protection in your browser settings. A content blocker such as uBlock Origin has the same effect.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat that as an opt out of sharing for advertising. Enabling it is the least effort for the most coverage.
One at a time
- Google Analytics. Install the official opt-out add-on, which works across every site that uses it.
- Microsoft Clarity. Covered by the Microsoft privacy settings at privacy.microsoft.com, and blocked by any tracker blocker.
- Meta. Adjust what Facebook and Instagram do with off-site activity in your Meta ad preferences. This also covers the server-side measurement described in the Privacy Policy.
- YouTube. Nothing loads until you play an embedded video. Not playing one avoids it entirely.
Blocking any of these will not degrade the site. Nothing here is required to browse conventions, and none of it changes what we email you, which is controlled in your account settings.
